Mr. Basketball Contenders: Northeast Ohio
To be named Mr. Basketball in the State of the Ohio is an honor in and of itself. Some of the best basketball players from Ohio at the collegiate level first began their careers as Mr. Basketball in the State. Today, I will look at 5 Mr. Basketball contenders from Northeast Ohio.
Dwayne Cohill (Holy Name)- A star guard recently committed to the University of Dayton, Cohill is one of the most explosive players from NE Ohio, especially when attacking the rim and finishing in traffic.
Pete Nance (Revere)- A lengthy wing committed to Northwestern, Pete makes plays on both ends of the floor making him a valuable asset to his team. This length plus his nice shooting touch makes him one of the most dangerous players in the state.
Yahel Hill (Cleveland Heights)- A speedy PG with very nice court vision. One of the top guards in NE Ohio, Yahel is a dark horse player when it comes to winning Mr. Basketball.
Mike Bothwell (Cornerstone Christian)- A great scorer, Mike can literally score anywhere on the floor making him one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in the Cleveland area. Him along with Cohill are my favorites to win Mr. Basketball out of NE Ohio.
Alonzo Gaffney (Garfield Heights)- One of the top prospects in the Class of 2019, Gaffney is an absolutely tremendous athlete capable of taking over a game at any time. He along with Jeremiah Francis from Pickerington are the top players in the junior class and have the best chance to win Mr. Basketball from the class.
