Mr. Basketball contenders: Central Ohio
To be named Mr. Basketball in the State of the Ohio is an honor in and of itself. Some of the best basketball players from Ohio at the collegiate level first began their careers as Mr. Basketball in the State. Today, I will look at 5 Mr. Basketball contenders from Central Ohio.
Jerome Hunter (Pickerington North)- The Indiana commit is a dynamic low post player. Able to take over games on both ends of the floor, Jerome leads a loaded Pick North into the season and is arguably the top prospect from Central Ohio.
Dane Goodwin (Upper Arlington)- If I had to pick my favorite to win Mr. Basketball from this part of the state, Goodwin would be my guy. Dane is such a talented and athletic guard that will definitely make his mark at Notre Dame next year. His ability to attack the rim as well as knock down long range shots makes him so intriguing and definitely a name to watch.
Adrian Nelson (Pickerington Central)- Nelson will take over games on both ends of the floor, but specifically on the defensive end and at the rim. One of the top rebounders in the area, Adrian is an incredibly athletic SF and can also dominate with his shot blocking abilities.
Taevion Kinsey (Eastmoor)- If there was a dunk contest state wide, Taevion would likely win hands down. This guy is one heck of a player and is a dark horse in the Mr. Basketball race. Look for him to have his biggest numbers yet and even have a few SC Top 10 moments.
Braden Norris (Hilliard Bradley)- The recent Oakland University commit has a dagger for a 3-point shot. Especially dangerous in catch-and-shoot situations, Braden is one of two go-to guys for the Jaguars along with fellow senior Isaiah Speelman. He is arguably one of the best shooters in Ohio and will be a huge reason for Bradley’s success this year.
