Louisiana Top 250 Expo: Team Raptors Highlights/Reports
The Prep Hoops Louisiana Top 250 Expo wrapped up in late August but there’s still more footage and content to come. Here’s a closer look at one of the event’s 10 teams, Team Raptors, which included one of the state’s top 2019 prospects and a breakout performer.
Dywan Griffin — Landry-Walker 2019 6’1 PG
Griffin is the 4th-ranked player in Prep Hoops LA’s 2019 class and he certainly looked the part throughout the Expo. He controlled the pace and flow of the game for his team and wasn’t shy about getting a bucket either. The Landry-Walker standout made a living in the paint off the dribble and in transition, and is a tough competitor who’s looking to be the aggressor anytime he steps on the floor.
De’Antray Hughes — Karr 2019 6’5 F
Hughes without question appeared to be the proverbial “diamond in the rough” at the Prep Hoops LA Expo. I had seen Hughes once with his high school team over the summer but a more fast-paced setting really allowed him to showcase his skill set. He was a force in the paint dunking on defenders with regularity, rebounding on both ends and altering shots defensively. It’ll be interesting to see how Hughes develops this season and what he’ll bring to a Karr team that may be flying a little under the radar heading into the 2017-18 season.
Corey Madison — Lusher 2019 6’2 G
Madison is a smooth prospect that can affect the game in a multitude of ways. He’s a good shooter from long range and can also put the ball on the floor and get to the rim. Madison usually has a score-first mentality with the ball in his hands but also picks his spots well and moves well without the ball.
Claudell Harris — Hahnville 2021 5’9 PG
Harris was one of the younger prospects to stand out, which wasn’t easy amongst a group made up mostly of upperclassmen. He was a knock-down shooter for Team Raptors and played with a ton of confidence throughout the day.
