Louisiana Class of 2020: Guard Breakdown
Although all five of the top five players for the class of 2020 are guards, we didn’t include them here, because we have given them their own article, which you can check out HERE.
Antonio Warren 6’1 G McDonough 35
Warren is a super tough lead guard, who excels at getting to the rim. Once he get into the paint, he is a reliable scorer, but is also a very good passer. Warren sees the court extremely well, and is able to hit cutters in stride on the way to the goal. He is also a strong rebounder for his size, and is able to take rebounds coast to coast to setup either himself or a teammate.
Carvell Teasett 6’0 G Southern Lab
Teasett is an all out bucket getter. No matter where he is on the court, he’s less than 5 seconds from scoring at any point in the game. He can finish around the rim, and has a variety of finishers to pull out his bag of tricks. He also has all of the tools to be a plus defender on that side of the ball. He is another athletic guard that can get it done for the class of 2020.
Jayshun Miller 6’0 G Homer High
When you first take a look at Miller, you might not be expecting much, but once you see him with the ball in his hands, your opinion is bound to change. He is a capable scorer at all three levels, and there have been times when I have watched him against high level competition when he is simply unguardable.
Jahmal Byers 5’9 G Ville Platte
Byers might be a little smaller than than those around him talent wise, but he plays much bigger than his stature on the court. He is a tough guard when going to the goal, and manages to finish really tough plays. When he is locked in, he is a lockdown defender, and is able to use his quickness to be an absolute disruptor on that end.
