Louisiana Class of 2020: Bigs Breakdown
Glenn Rhone 6’5 PF Crescent City
Rhone is an athletic, agile big. He is very good at filling his role of defending and rebound at this point in time. He is also a good finisher around the rim. He plays mostly off of emotion at this point, which can be both a good thing and a bad thing. There have been questions about his maturity level raised in the past, but if he can overcome those, he has the potential to skyrocket up the rankings.
Brayden Board 6’5 PF Crowley
Board is a very good stretch 4, and has the skill set to be a bit of a tweener between the forward positions. He is a good shooter from deep, and can score from the mid range at an efficient level as well. There have been questions raised about his toughness level, but as he gets older, hopefully those questions will be answered.
Holden Pellerin 6’6 C Carencro
Board and Pellerin played together on the same grassroots team this past year, and they compliment each other’s skill sets very well. Pellerin is a very good defender, and can use his long arms to defend the rim, as well as rebound at a high level. On offense, he is best around the rim at this point, but I expect him to expand his range going forward.
Hunter Strickland 6’7 C Weston High
Strickland and Pellerin both have similar games, with Strickland big a little taller, but with a slimmer body. Both are best protecting the rim and rebounding the ball. Strickland is a bit better at finishing around the rim, but around traffic he struggles a bit. He also has a nice shooting form, so I expect him to get better shooting going forward.
Aaron Ursin 6’6 C Holy Cross
Ursin certainly has size going for him, and with his broad shoulders, I don’t expect that he is done growing quite yet. He is clearly still growing into his body, so he doesn’t have great coordination quite yet. However, he is still able to defend the rim with his size and length, and rebounds well, even out of position. He picked up his first offer to Xavier earlier this summer.
