Louisburg High School: Open Gym Tour
I most recently had the opportunity to drop by Louisburg High School for an open gym session. From first view, it was easy to see that they will have a very young but promising team for the long run.
Due to transfer and graduation of many key players, they will have a ton of fresh faces on the roster. Head coach Michael Sheldon will be looking to his younger players to step up and make up for the roughly 50 points per game that is no longer apart of the program.
In the backcourt, 5’10” senior guard Jy’Quan Taylor is the leading returning scorer at right around 10 points per game. He knocked down shots, handled the ball and was steady throughout the open gym session. Also in the backcourt, 6’3” junior guard Jamarius Richardson plays with good pace and shows a good basketball IQ. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him cause matchup problems here and there on the inside & outside.
6’1” freshman point guard Elijah Jamison continued to show why he’s considered one of the better freshmen guards in the state of North Carolina. He was one of the more vocal players in the gym, got to wherever he wanted off of the dribble, dished the ball well and showed a nice mixed bag of moves to score the ball. Has a nice build as well.
6’5” senior forward D’Avion Biggs was intriguing to watch. Has some sneaky moves off of the dribble and plays tough on the inside. Has really good quickness and length as well. Could gain some JC interest should he consistently play aggressive on both ends of the floor.
Several players weren’t in attendance due to football obligations
2018 Amonte Moses – 5’10” Sturdy guard that loves to attack the basket.
2020 James Gerald – 6’3″ Post presence that averaged a double-double on the junior varsity.
