Doctors of Dunk: Best Dunkers in the DC DMV, Part 2.
Each season players from all of Maryland/DC & Northern, VA (NOVA) produce elite athletes & dunkers. We look for high elevation, explosion & power since live games are not dunk contests. Additionally, we evaluate where & how the players get to the rim. Examples can be transition, from the wing or key off the dribble & on alley oops. We chose Julius Erving as our cover photo because many NBA & the former ABA experts point to The Doctor as the player who started the dunk phenomenon. While there were many great dunkers before Doctor J such as Gus Johnson (Baltimore Bullets) & Jumping Joe Caldwell (ABA & Atlanta Hawks), I believe Julius Erving is “The Doctor of Dunk.”
This is part 2 of our 5 part series. Part 1 is in the link below:

Saddiq Bey, 6’7″, WG/WF, 2018. Sidwell Friends Quakers HS. Washington, DC
Grassroots team: DC Premier 17U
Saddiq Bey blew up this spring after a great showing for DC Premier on the AAU Grassroots Circuit. He is now 6’7″ plus with WG skills and an outstanding Top 100 national recruit with numerous D1 offers & has narrowed his list to Miami, Pitt & Xavier & possibly NC State & Northwestern. From our 2018 recruit evaluation, “Bey is a very talented scorer who has grown almost ten inches since his freshman year. Now at 6’7, the skilled wing is effective with his back to the basket or facing up. Bey rebounds well, and can defend multiple positions.” Already a tremendous player, Saddiq still has some great upside.” Last season we awarded Saddiq to our All DMV I-495 Team & he is a lock to repeat.
Jermaine Harris, 6’8.5″, 2018. PF, Rock Creek Christian HS. Upper Marlboro, MD.
Grassroots Team: DC Premier 17U
Jermaine is a national recruit ranked in the 60-80 range & is a tremendously skilled forward who had a great summer in Grassroots play for DC Premier. He shot over 60%, was a terror defensively & on both sides of the glass. Jermaine can now stretch the floor with his college 3 point range. He is a monster in the paint with an excellent 1st & second jump. Jermaine can throw down a powerful dunk from the wing or in the low post with backboard shattering force. He has numerous D1 offers, and when we saw him this Saturday he said he plans on taking his 5 visits. Last season we awarded Jermaine to our 1st Team All DMV I-495 which is our version of the All Met team & he is a lock to repeat. His offer list includes Kansas, WVU, Miami, Xavier, Rhode Island, Maryland & 14 plus more.

David McCullough, 6’8″ F, 2018. Riverdale Baptist HS Crusaders. Upper Marlboro, MD.
Grassroots Team: New World
David is a long, lean & skilled forward who has converted many electric dunks & shot rejections. He elevates very fast with high elevation & he has excellent acceleration to the rim where he can dunk off one or 2 legs. David is legitimate D1 player for legendary 18 year Head Crusader Coach Lou Wilson who has produced some of the areas best dunkers. Last season, RBHS Crusader, Deion Hammond may have been the best in the DC DMV. We will have a new recruiting report for David this week.
Ike Nweke, 6’7″, PF, Georgetown Prep HS Little Hoyas. Rocckville, MD.
Grassroots Team: Team Melo
Ike is another DC DMV Beast & he patrols the baselines for the Little Hoyas. This summer he was dominating on both sides of the backboards & Ike has numerous D1 offers. He is an elite defender, re-bounder & can score in the mid range & low post. Like Jermaine, Ike has the potential & power to rip the rim off. He converts dunks on alley oops, skip passes, many coming from PG Jared Bynum. Jared has committed to St. Joseph of the A10 and we awarded Ike & Jared to our All DMV I-495 last season. His Georgetown Prep teammate and fellow Doctor of Dunk Mezie Offuum just committed to the local George Washington Colonials of the A10.
Charles Thompson, 6’8″,PF, 2019. St. Stephens/St. Agnes Saints HS. Alexandria, VA
Grassroots Team: Team Takeover
Charles was a terror last season on the glass & in the paint. He continued to wreak havoc this summer controlling the boards, blocking shots, & throwing down monster Dunks for Team Takeover on the Grassroots Circuit. Charles has made major strides in his basketball development & he has high major potential. He should become a top All DMV I-495 team member this spring. Charles is an excellent player already, & he still possesses a big upside to take his game to another level. We believe Charles is on his way & we will be covering St. Stephens/St.Agnes in great detail this season along with Charles & the other SSSA players. In our opinion the Saints are a very dangerous team who could develop into one of the best teams in the DC/DMV.
