Class AA….A Taste
There is so much to be excited about in Class AA basketball. The talent level is way, way up. The teams are solid, and today is about showing Minnesota how Class AA is high level hoops.
Section 1. In Section one you have South Dakota State committed Owen King and his brother Noah, a sophomore, who has an SDSU offer. Also in this section you have a division one football player in Michael Coble. D1 athletes and good teams at Caledonia and Byron. Team wise Caledonia, Lake City, and Byron all have a chance to be ranked.
Section 2. Jordan will be top ten coming into the year and Sibley East will be close as well. Eric Tiedman is committed to Augustana and when you have a player committed to Augie you know you have a talented kid
Section 3. This group has some lesser know guys that are about to be well known. Camden Arndt out of Morris is very good and he has some excellent young teammates coming up. Tyl Woelber is one of the best athletes in southern Minnesota (from Pipestone). Brandon Adelman is a scholarship talent hearing from D1 and D2 kids.
Section 4. The section is all Minnehaha Academy (Aaron Gill at St Paul Prep too) and with Jalen Suggs being the nation’s second ranked 2020 plus JaVonni Bickham, Kaden Johnson, and Terry Lockett leading the way plus young kids in the 2021 and 2022 classes about to emerge the Redhawks are the young teams that will carry Minnesota forward (throw East Ridge and Park Center in there joining some of the long timers).
Section 5. This group got all of the other metro teams. Minneapolis North, Brooklyn Center, Breck, and Maranatha Christian. Players like Tyler Johnson, Lu’Cye Patterson, David Roddy, and Beihan Newbern leading their teams among many others.
Section 6. Cathedral and Annandale in the same section will put together one heck of a battle. Melrose won’t be away from the top spot for long either. Mitchell Plombon and Michael Schaefer leading the way.
Section 7. Adam Trapp was at the Comets Showcase last weekend and we are told he looked excellent. Therefore this is a 7-foot-3 center that nobody will attack and if they do the opponent’s chance of finishing in the paint is likely less than 30. Watch out for Dylan DeChampeau.
Section 8. Not quite the names as much as the teams here. Perham and Breckenridge are the key pieces and they will have some wars this year. Jenson Beachy and Noah Christensen are the key names.
