Class A…A Taste
Class A basketball is different this year. There are names to get to know. Here are eight new ones for the state of Minnesota to get to know.
Section 1. Carson Schwichtenberg of Lanesborro. Carson steps into where his brother Cole was so good, at point guard. Carson is a junior guard that had an excellent 16-17 season and know this is his team.
Section 2. Marcus Boyd of Mountain Lake Area. There is a lot of talent and section two so it’s easy to look past Marcus and his team but they will be a factor. Boyd has good size at 6-foot-2/6-foot-3 and he can play either guard spot.
Section 3. Anthony Ross of Westbrook-Walnut Grove. The 6-foot-2 Ross will lead the Chargers again and they will be a top ten, top fifteen squad. Ross was incredible leading his team as a freshman, missed his sophomore year with a knee injury, and came back strong as a junior.
Section 4. Alex Schilling of Bethany Academy. What is going to happen in 4A is anyone’s guess but they bring a lot of talent back and Alex is that guy leading the way. A solid player that could push his team to a big year.
Section 5. James Clark of Sebeka. Clark is about 6-foot-2 and plays with speed. He is tough for his opponents to keep in front of and he gets to the rim and finishes for numbers. Good vision too.
Section 6. Isaac Habedank of NCE/UH. Isaac is a throw back. Great low post skills for his 6-foot-3 size, outstanding rebounder, and he plays with an ever lasting motor. NCE/UH has big expectations with Isaac being a key piece.
Section 7. Alec Pessenda of Chisholm. The Chisholm junior group has people thinking about the 2007-2011 era when they went to state three of four seasons. This group has good players and could make a run. North Woods and Mountain Iron-Buhl are hills to climb and it may take a year but Alec is one of the several ready for the next two years.
Section 8. Mason Miller of Ada-Borup. Miller played varsity as a freshman bringing shot blocking, scoring, and rebounding and he did more in the post than most expected right off the back. Expectations are big for his sophomore year.
