Virginia Summer Stock Boosters: 2020 Frontcourt
Virginia was well represented on the grassroots circuit this summer. As the season winds down and many players return from AAU back to their high school squads, we’ll be taking a look back at some of the players who have raised their stock the most since last high school season. Below, we take a look at five front court players in the 2020 class who’ve been performing well and are set to break out.
ISAIAH TODD | JOHN MARSHALL
Isaiah Todd, the top ranked sophomore in the country, is one of the best prospects to come through the state in recent memory. The 6’10 forward, who can absolutely shoot the lights out, is also a high level defender and rim protector. Todd should have a very productive sophomore year at John Marshall.
MARK WILLIAMS | NORFOLK ACADEMY
At 6’11, Mark Williams possesses all the tools you need in a big man. He’s athletic, coordinated, has good hands, rebounds, blocks shots, can score both inside, and from the perimeter. If Williams can find a way to challenge himself and keep himself consistently stay motivated, look out. Virginia, Oklahoma State, and Clemson are among the recent schools to offer him.
JAHVON JOHN | BISHOP SULLIVAN
Keep an eye on Jahvon John at Bishop Sullivan this year. After a solid AAU season and a strong run of play at future all american, the 6’6 forward appears poised for a breakout sophomore season. John, who offers from Stony Brook and Old Dominion among others, is continuing to add strength while polishing his jump shot.
DOWAR JIOKLOW | FLINT HILL
Dowar Jioklow ended his summer with a strong performance at future all american camp. The 6’9 lefty is a knock down shooter from three, and very good passing big man. An excellent shot blocker, Jioklow will become more dominant as he continues to grow into his body, and learns to score with his back to the basket.
TRISTAN BOUNDS | EPISCOPAL
Tristan Bounds displayed superb potential with Team Durant this summer. The rising sophomore, who anchored the paint defensively, has nice touch and solid fundamentals.
