Virginia Summer Stock Boosters: 2019 Frontcourt
Virginia was well represented on the grassroots circuit this summer. As the season winds down and many players return from AAU back to their high school squads, we’ll be taking a look back at some of the players who have raised their stock the most since last high school season. Below we take a quick look at five rising junior front court players who should see an uptick in their recruitment as a result of strong play this summer.
ARMANDO BACOT | TRINITY EPISCOPAL
Despite being somewhat overlooked on the national scene, Armando Bacot has done nothing but win games. The state champ, who played a major role for 17U Team Loaded Virginia on their way to the Adidas Uprising Championship in Vegas, has offers from almost every blue blood school in the country. It won’t be long before Bacot earns the respect he deserves.
OSCAR TSHIEWEBE | MOUNTAIN MISSION
One of the more underrated players on the 17U Team Loaded squad had to be Oscar Tshiewebe. The 6’8 rising junior, who is as good of an athlete at his position in the country, has firmly established himself as a high major prospect.
PATRICK KELLY | VIRGINIA EPISCOPAL
Patrick Kelly is one of the most impressive young players in the Team Loaded program. The rising junior sharpshooter, who is a sneaky athlete, already holds offers from Providence, UNLV, and Grand Canyon.
CHARLES THOMPSON | ST. STEPHENS & ST. AGNES
16U Team Takeover simply would not have been the team they were without the presence of Charles Thompson. The much improved power forward, who worked hard inside and anchored the defense admirably, showed that he can put the ball in the basket consistently while make good decisions with the ball. Columbia is the first school to offer Thompson.
ROBBIE BERAN | COLLEGIATE
Since reclassifying into 2019, Robbie Beran has seen an uptick his recruitment. The 6’7 forward, who received recent offers from Marshall, JMU, and Lafayette, is poised for a productive junior campaign.
