Virginia Summer Stock Boosters: 2018 Frontcourt
Virginia was well represented on the grassroots circuit this summer. As the summer winds down and many players return from AAU back to their high school squads, we’ll be taking a look back at some of the players who have raised their stock the most since last high school season. These five front court players could continue to see boosts in their recruitment given their exceptional performances on the hardwood.
DAVID MCCORMACK | OAK HILL
David McCormack has establish himself one of the most dominant players in the country, and a winner. The 6’10, 290 pound big man, who recently picked up an offer from Duke, possesses an intriguing blend of power and speed. McCormack was a central figure for Team Loaded Virginia, who captured the summer championship trophy in Vegas.
QUENTIN MILLORA-BROWN | SOUTH COUNTY
Quentin Millora-Brown, a recent transfer to South County, showed signs of dominance in summer league. The 6’9 work horse, who demonstrates much improved agility and footwork, is one of the best rim protectors in the DMV. An excellent student and is being recruited by several high academic division one schools, Millora-Brown has a very good chance to be one of the most forceful paint presences locally this season.
ZACH PFAFFENBERGER | EPISCOPAL
Team BBC power forward Zach Pfaffenberger is one of the most improved players we’ve seen over the last 12 months. A big part of his emergence has been with the transformation of his body. Pfaffenberger, who now holds several division one offers, has benefited from his improved strength and athleticism.
JORDAN MILLER | LOUDOUN VALLEY
Jordan Miller has been one of the more highly recruited wings in the state this summer, and there’s a good reason for it. The long limbed 6’5 lefty, who works extremely hard on both ends of the court, can consistently knock down shots from the perimeter but is also an excellent passer. Miller, who holds offers from George Mason, Towson, and Drexel among others, is a long limbed athlete also defend a number of positions.
CHRIS FORD | LC BIRD
After his breakout performance against top level competition at Oladipo Skills Academy, Chris Ford has begun to see his recruitment expand. This is not a coincidence. Ford is one of the hardest working bigs in the class, and also one of the most improved.
