Super Six Projections: Top Players in the 4th Region
High School’s across Kentucky have opened their doors for the start of a new school year, leading Prep Hoops Kentucky to open its doors to “way-to-early” preseason outlooks. Over the next few days we will give you our “Super Six Projections”, breaking down our picks for the top six players in Kentucky’s 16 regions. Here we breakdown the 4th Region.
4th Region “Super Six” Projections:
(Rankings are in no particular order)
- Nolan Barrow, Todd County Central / 5’11 Guard / 2018
Barrow was the leading scorer (13.9 points per game) for Todd County Central as a junior last season. It’s tough to find many players that work as hard as Nolan out on the floor. Barrow is relentless. He also shot over 50% from the field (45.4 from 3-point range).
- Billy Dyer, Monroe County / 6’4 Wing /2018
Dyer could quite possibly be one of the more underrated players in the state. He has really good size for a number of NAIA and D3 programs. As a junior last season, he averaged 22.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. He shot 54% from the field and 41% from 3-point range (on 169 attempts). Dyer can shoot it and put it on the floor, scoring with the dribble pull up or at the rim. His size also allows him to post up on smaller guards.
- Skyelar Potter, Warren Central / 6’3 Shooting Guard / 2018
Potter holds offers from Lipscomb and Kentucky Wesleyan and has interest from a number of D1 programs from surrounding states. Potter averaged 20.2 points and 11.8 rebounds per game last season while breaking Warren Central’s single-game scoring record (45) and most made 3-point field goals in a game (10)
- Jared Coomer, Barren County / 6’6 Wing / 2018
Coomer has shown signs of being a D2 caliber player. He averaged right at 15.5 points and 17.5 rebounds as a junior last season. He currently holds an offer from Lindsey Wilson College and interest from Asbury University. Coomer had an impressive weekend at the University of Indianapolis’ recently hosted elite camp.
- Jarius Key, Bowling Green / 6’5 Forward / 2018
Key has really good athletic ability and is already carrying a college level frame at the level most predict him competing at (small college basketball). Expect Key’s production to increase this season after the graduation or Terry Taylor (Austin Peay) and the transfer of freshman phenom Zion Harmon (Adair County). Bowling Green won last year’s Kentucky state championship.
- Brayton Scales, Russell County / Guard / 2018
Scales is a multi-sport athlete who competes on the court and on the baseball diamond. On the hardwood, Scales averaged 17 points per game as a junior last season. He will look to help improve Russell County’s record this season while competing for a 16th District championship.
