Summer Recap: Tony Perkins (2020)
Tony Perkins – 6’2” | G | EG10 2020 | Lawrence North High School
Tony Perkins is coming off a strong summer with EG10 2020. The lanky guard gets to the basket with ease and has the athleticism to finish with the best of them at the rim. Perkins attends Lawrence North where he also plays his school ball. He’s looking for a bigger role this season with Wildcats and is putting in the work to earn it.
“I’m a dedicated, hard-working player willing to do my best to be the best at my game.” Perkins has been showing major leaps in his improvement throughout the spring and summer sessions.
Tony has his eyes set on being a two-way impact player for his high school team this year. “One thing I want to work on and accomplish this season is to start varsity. Work on my shooting and defense so I can turn out to be an outstanding player on both sides.”
Perkins used his length well on the defensive end to both opposing guards and create easy scoring opportunities in the open court off turnovers.
“I’ve learned a lot of things this summer and I worked very hard on getting better and preparing myself for the upcoming high school season and next years AAU season. I bring a lot of enthusiasm and motivate my teammates on what they need to work on and accomplish as a team and as a player.”
He displayed his natural leadership skills at an early stage in his career. Those skills will only continue to get better as his role and confidence continue to grow. Tony’s jump shot has been improving but he’s still more comfortable around the basket. He’s best in the half court when he gets to the basket and creates off the bounce.
As he continues to expand his offensive repertoire, he will become a more dynamic scorer in the half court. His transition scoring ability is well noted. He is focusing on his ability to stretch the floor with the deep ball in the coming months heading into his sophomore season at Lawrence North.
“My strengths are bettering myself on the court and understanding that there’ll always be a next play. Just keeping my head in the game and focusing on the next play and being a team player.”
He is an intriguing prospect in the Class of 2020 who is starting to find his stride between the lines. Impact player on both ends who has an uncanny feel for the game as a sophomore.
