Summer Recap: Kyron King (2019)
Kyron King – 6’1” | PG | MBA Select 2019 | Mishawaka Marian
Kyron King is a long prospect at the point guard position who is starting to mold into a true leader. He attends Mishawaka Marian where he plays his school ball. King played this spring and summer with MBA Select 2019.
“I felt like I figured out how to control a team and get everybody involved. I also knew how to score when I needed too specifically towards the end of the AAU season.” King was in complete control of the offense at the GRBA National Championships in Fort Wayne in late July.
He looked to attack the basket and create opportunities when they were stagnant. Kyron made smart decisions in the open floor when they were pushing the ball. He knew when to pull it back and get a good look on a possession. True point guards value and understand the importance of each possession.
MBA Select is known for being a tight program under great coaching. “As a team, I felt like we played well together especially when the game became close at the end. My team was close and our coaching was great. My overall experience with my MBA team was awesome.”
King appeared in fifteen games last year as a sophomore and will see his role increase tremendously with the progression he’s made in the past few months.
“My favorite memory from my AAU season was when I hit a game winner against Grand Rapids Storm in Milwaukee. The play was not designed for me but I found a way to get the ball and I knew it was in when I released it.”
Kyron is focusing on his jumper in the coming months in preparation for high school season. “I feel like attacking the rim and my mid-range pull-up are my strongest points of my game as far as offense. I will continue to grow as a ball player.”
As he continues to get stronger, he will be an even better on ball defender with his length and quick feet.
Look out for Kyron to start turning more heads in the coming month. Lanky guard with a high basketball IQ and great energy between the lines.
