Recruiting Rundown: Connor Crabtree
PC: HighSchoolOT
Orange HS rising senior Connor Crabtree announced earlier this summer that he is transferring to Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia for his senior season. The once UNC-Asheville commit has opened his recruitment up and is looking to make a jump to a higher-level program while playing a national schedule at Hargrave Military.
Crabtree is a skilled wing that can finish at the rim, get rebounds and showed throughout this summer that he can knock down the long ball.
Justin Byerly: What was the main reason in heading to Hargrave for your senior season?
Connor Crabtree: My main reason for going to Hargrave was because they have a big time basketball program that I know will prepare me well and help me improve a ton.
Justin Byerly: What new schools have been in contact?
Connor Crabtree: New schools I have been in contact with but have not offered are Mercer, Wichita St., NAU, Georgia Tech, Davidson, Lehigh, Boston College, KSU, Mt. Saint Mary’s and Akron.
Justin Byerly: How was your summer playing with Upward Stars?
Connor Crabtree: I was totally new to all of players and coaches and had to deal with a minor injury during the live period but overall I enjoyed myself and was able to compete against the best.
Justin Byerly: You will be teaming up with Trey McGowens, what kid of relationship do you have with him?
Connor Crabtree: Me and Trey have a good relationship already. We roomed together and stuff during July so I am excited and ready to play in the backcourt with him at Hargrave.
Justin Byerly: Are you planning any visits?
Connor Crabtree: From the schools that have offered, most of them want me to visit both unofficially and officially. I plan on maybe going to see some more local schools before I leave for Hargrave and than start scheduling officials after I get things settled at Hargrave.
