Recruiting Report: Xavier Grant (2018)
Xavier Grant has played basketball since he was old enough to dribble a ball.
The 2018 American Heritage guard couldn’t pinpoint the exact age that he started, but he has transformed into a really gifted talent in the state of Florida over the years.
At 6’2″, 170 lbs., Grant has no offers just yet, but he’s drawn interest from Cornell, Dartmouth, West Point and Navy.
He called his junior campaign a really good one.
The Patriots went 13-5 and made it to the Class 6A-District 16 semifinal before losing 73-72 to Archbishop McCarthy.
“I took on a much bigger role than I had my sophomore year,” Grant told Prep Hoops Florida. “What I learned from last year was the importance of focusing all year long in order to be effective from game to game. I’ve always been known as a shooter. So this past season I drove to the basket more.
My role next season for American Heritage is to step up as a leader and become a top scorer for my team.”
Grant has spent the last two years with Nike South Beach in the EYBL. He called his summer productive as he was focused on getting his name out there a bit more.
He pointed to his shooting as his biggest asset. He’s aiming to improve his explosiveness this season.
An offer will come for Grant soon. He is a sound basketball player who gets the job done in Plantation. American Heritage will feature him at the forefront of its offense and he should be able to raise his stock in the process.
