Recruiting Report: Michael Lankford (2018)
2018 Atlantic forward Michael Lankford is a bouncy and athletic player.
The 6’6″, 200-pounder enters his senior season after helping the Eagles reach the Class 9A region quarterfinals. Atlantic lost to eventual state semifinalist Wellington, but Lankford says the season helped become a better person and player.
“I learned mostly how versatile my game was,” he told Prep Hoops Florida. “I can take it to the basket along with shoot from the outside. My mental ability towards the game, along with my shooting had grown the most. My role for next year at Atlantic is to be a leader and lead my team to Lakeland.”
No offers have been delivered to Lankford yet, but he’s drawn interest from Navy, Stetson, Eastern Washington, Yale, College of Charleston and Texas San Antonio.
He spent his first summer with the Florida Vipers where he worked hard to show colleges his overall game and potential.
Starting his basketball life at age 10, Lankford pointed to his attacking ability as his biggest strength. He’s looking to make his shot more consistent and take more pride in his defense.
Atlantic is a solid group and I fully expect Lankford to be a core presence inside. If he can develop a reliable jump shot, he has a chance to be a low-Divison I or Division II player.
