Recruiting Report: Marc Bowie (2018)
Stressing out about recruitment is not Marc Bowie’s thing.
And even though it may be normal for some of his peers to worry about the trajectory of their recruitment, Bowie says he’s just going to worry about his skill-development, and the rest will take care of itself.
The 6-foot-4 Karr guard does have one Division II offer in tow, from Arkansas-Fort Smith, and some other D1 interest.
“Nichols State and Central Florida have called for me, and they’ve been contacting me,” said Bowie.
“And I’m still open, but I’m going to take an official visit to Arkansas (Fort Smith) at some point.”
In the meantime, he’s not stressin’.
“I’m not so much worried about the recruitment, but more so just me working on my game,” said Bowie. “If I’m in the gym improving, everything else will take care of itself. I’m not even going to stress myself out about it.”
A two-way player who emphasizes defense, Bowie explained his playing style to PHLA.
“I have the type of game where I can make an impact on offense or defense,” he said. “I can rebound, play defense, get my hands in passing lanes because I’m long. I get a lot of steals and it allows me to go get dunks and gets me in a nice offensive rhythm.”
This spring and summer, Bowie excelled with NOLA 23, one of the state’s best teams.
“My summer with NOLA 23 was actually one of the best I’ve had. We all played for each other and that basically took care of everything else,” said Bowie.
“I extended my range, now I can get to the goal and have some nice range. And on defense I improved.”
Now, as heads into his senior season with Karr, it’s his turn to lead the guys, like he’s been led in the past.
“Coming up, I always looked up to the all the older guys on the team. And now I’m in a situation where all the guys are going to look up to me. And I’ll need to be the leader on and off the court,” said Bowie.
“Playing with all these elite guys this offseason, I learned a lot from them all. So I’m just trying to bottle up all that knowledge and take it into my senior season.”
