Recruiting Report: Karsten Broadley (2019)
Karsten Broadley has helped many basketball fans in Minnesota learn about the Fosston Greyhounds as the junior-to-be is a scholarship 2019 talent.
Karsten joined with graduated Jesse Sather in helping Fosston win 36 games the past two seasons. As a sophomore Broadley supported Sather’s 21 a game with nearly 15 points a contest of his own.
The 6-foot-6 forward gave the Minnesota Comets 16u club a long athlete that played a couple spots. Broadley was one of the Comets that could match the athleticism of the teams in the Ny2La Basketball League helping them to the 16u title.
“I thought this years AAU season was successful and gave me an opportunity to meet a lot of great people,” Broadley said.
“The biggest take from competing at this level would be the speed and the style of this level is much different from the high school single A level.”
At the Class A level the agile 6-foot-6 Broadley will use his physical gifts to put up some big numbers this year around the basket. But Karsten is also working on improving his ball skills to be a more versatile player.
“I will mainly be working on my ball handing and picking up consistency with my jump shot,” Karsten said. “My goals are to be a leader and a example to the others around me.
“I want to lead the team to the state tournament and possibly further on into the tournament. I also will hopefully get to 1,000 points this year and I’d like to average a double-double. Overall be a steady and reliable player to my teammates.”
Karsten will definitely be the biggest guy on his team so the Greyhounds will play, as their team name suggests, fast.
“We will be a smaller team when it comes to height resulting in a lot of full court pressure from us and also pushing the speed of the game up.
“A realistic goal for us this year is making it down to the state tournament and hopefully win some games after falling just short to get there the past few years.”
This summer Minnesota-Crookston offered Karsten a scholarship. The Golden Eagles were one of several schools calling Broadley heading into his junior year.
“I have gotten introduction letters from Winona State , Concordia-St. Paul, and Augustana. I have received elite camp invites from University of Sioux Falls and St. Cloud State.
“Also I have been receiving calls from the U of Mary, Minnesota-Crookston, and Southwest Minnesota State, and an offer from Minnesota-Crookston.
