Recruiting Report: Jack Middleton (2019)
Prep Hoops saw Edina’s Jack Middleton play a lot of different roles for Edina and D1 Minnesota this year.
The 6-foot-4 Middleton was Edina’s third leading scorer and one of their top defenders. With D1 Minnesota we saw him move off the ball as well as anybody, we saw him pass the ball with the best of them, hit shots, score above the rim, and continue to defend.
For Middleton it was an excellent year as a 16u player.
“I thought the AAU year went really well for our team,” Jack said. “Our chemistry grew over the season which was fun because we moved the ball so well.
“My biggest take away from playing at this level is that defense is so important if you want to win games. Everybody at this level can score so defense is crucial.”
With Walt McGrory moving on to Wisconsin and other Hornets graduating there are holes to fill but Edina will be sitting well with Jack joining Anders Nelson on the floor. Jack will be better than we saw this summer too.
“I’m going to work on improving my ball handling, rebounding, and my ability to attack the rim.”
Jack gave us a quick look at what Edina will look like come late November.
“We are going to have a lot of new guys in our rotation,” Jack told Prep Hoops. “We have a lot of talented young guys like Zach Kloos and Jacob Hutson as well as returning guys Anders Nelson and Luke Glenna.
“Our goals are to go far in sections or make it to state by playing team ball.”
Middleton has also started to hear from some college programs. Four of them in fact.
“I’m hearing from Air Force, Denver, Yale, and Southwest Minnesota State University,” Jack said.
The team goal is to make it to state. Of course. We also asked Jack about what he individually would like to accomplish.
“Some of my goals for my junior season are to make a difference on both sides of the floor and to help create opportunities for my teammates to do well.”
