Recruiting Report: Harrison Gough (2018)
Harrison Gough (2018), a 6’8” forward/center from Lima Bath, listed off quite a list of potential suitors when we asked him what schools have expressed interest in him.
“I do not have any offers, but schools that have been expressing interest are Malone, Trine, St. Francis [in Indiana], Adrian, Albion, Lourdes, Heidelberg, Huntington, Wittenberg, Otterbein, and Anderson. So a lot of D-IIIs. Those are from texts and calls,” Gough said.
Gough is also attending a camp at Ohio Dominican today.
All of these programs above have communicated directly with Gough, who played with the Northwest Ohio Basketball Club this spring and summer. He is open to all possibilities, and is in no rush to make a college decision.
But, are there any specific schools who have made an impression above the rest?
“I just spent two days out at Albion, I really liked it there. Other than that, I haven’t been down to Trine yet, but that’s a school I’m really interested in. Malone I went on a visit to and a camp to, it seems pretty great down there,” Gough told us yesterday during our interview.
“Not an official visit, but I’ve seen Adrian, Wittenberg, and I think that’s really it that I’ve been to,” Gough said.
Gough’s eventual college decision will be based primarily on academics, along with a couple secondary factors.
“Mostly academics. Obviously after college, I want to be able to do something. Yeah, academics is going to come first. Second is probably going to basketball success and facilities campus wise.”
The 2.9 GPA student-athlete carries a 25 ACT score, and has been considering majoring in business as of late.
On the court, Gough’s ball skills and mobility at 6’8” sets him apart from other prospects.
“I think for being 6’8”, I have a good skill-set that you don’t see from other bigs,” Gough said.
“I feel comfortable defending anything from the 3 to the 5. I mean, I can probably step out and guard point guards occasionally.”
Going forward, he’s working on becoming more consistent as an outside shooter. While he possesses the ability to spot-up, say after setting a ball-screen, Gough is dead-set on becoming even more reliable. Expect him to be dedicated to basketball and physical development this fall, as he’s foregone his last season of high school football, to be more focused on hoops.
Scouts and colleges will be able to see him at a few showcases before his senior season at Bath, including at Pickerington North on September 9.
“I’m going to Ohio Dominican [today]. I’m actually going to sit down this weekend and sign up for your guys’ Top 250 Expo and then the Scouts Focus Elite 80,” Gough said
