Recruiting Report: Devin Eppard (2018)
Devin Eppard has made himself known over the past year as not only a Chester Area High School guard, but a potential future college player. The 6’1 athlete has had an exciting last year and his immediate goals are simple; make it to the state tournament.
After losing last year to the eventual Class B Champions, Eppard has made it a focus to get better. Chester Area lost eight seniors from last years team and Eppard will be looked upon to lead the 2017-18 squad.
“My goal is just to be the best I can every night and make it to the state tournament. I like where my game is at now, however I know I need to improve to make myself and our team better. I have been working on my handle every day and trying to become a more consistent 3pt shooter.”
Part of the process to improve was playing this summer with the Pentagon 17u National Team. Traveling all over the country and playing against lots of different kids was a good experience for Eppard.
“Playing with the national team was great. We played teams that were very good all summer and went to some big time tourneys. We did well and I had fun.”
Stemming from his standout play as a junior last season, this summer has helped garner interest from college coaches around the area. Local NAIA schools and D3 schools have made contact with Eppard however no offers yet. DWU, Northwestern, Dakota Sate, Briar Cliff and Concordia-Morehead are just a few that have reached out to him.
Eppard’s current focus remains on this upcoming high school season.
“We have some young guards that are going to be tough and good size to go along with that. But like I said, early goal, like everyone’s goal should be, is make it to state and try to win it all.”
