Recruiting Report: Carter Boothe (2018)
After bursting onto the scene last season with a tremendous latter half of the season, Central Decatur guard Carter Boothe is certainly one to keep an eye on this winter.
The 6-foot guard averaged 17.3 points, 7.3 assists and 6.5 rebounds per game last season as a junior, all team-bests. And will no doubt be a triple-double threat each night out this season.
A couple of in-state programs are continuing to pursue him.
“The Briar Cliff coach has called me a couple of times, and Buena Vista has made some contact too, and that’s about it,” said Boothe, Iowa’s 67th-ranked 2018.
“Really any level (of college hoops) would be fine. I just want the chance to play at the next level, that’s what I’ve been looking for my whole life, pretty much.”
Boothe added: “So if I get an offer and the school is right, then I’ll probably pull the trigger.”
This spring and summer, the rising-senior was running with Kingdom Hoops Elite, and says his body has improved, and also his conditioning.
“I’ve really been working on developing my body and adding strength, and just getting quicker and faster and stronger. I’ve put a lot of time in the weightroom, and I play other sports which helps a lot with conditioning. Right now I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in,” said Boothe, who defined his role with Kingdom Hoops.
“I think my role was handling the ball and passing. I really didn’t have to score much, we had shooters on whichever team I played on. So my job was to facilitate more than anything.”
That role will change dramatically this season with Central Decatur.
“This year I’ll have the same role as I did as a junior with my high school team,” said Boothe. “I’ll still be the leader, and will hope to lead my team in scoring and assists. And I’ll lead the guys and really push them.”
