Recruiting Report: Cade Neubert (2018)
A lot of the top small school players don’t always get challenged on a regular basis playing with their high school teams, so getting out and playing AAU basketball is incredibly important for them. Cade Neubert is one of the guys who made the most of that experience.
Neubert, a 6-foot-5 forward from Sauk Centre, spent the grassroots season playing with Comets Little where he had a chance to play against top players on a weekly basis. And he more than held his own.
“It went really well,” Neubert said of the summer. “It’s definitely a good experience playing against top level teams. Especially being from a smaller town like I am where you don’t see this kind of caliber of talent all the time. You don’t face guys that are the same size and athleticism as you all the time like you do playing AAU.”
Neubert’s game is predicated on his ability to get to the rim. He’s a good athlete who excels in transition and off the ball, slashing to the basket and finishing in traffic. He’s working on improving his outside jumper and in the meantime, his activity level allows him to produce without needing the ball in his hands a great deal.
A strong summer has led to a lot of interest from colleges for Neubert as well.
“Was just at a camp in Indiana – Taylor University – That’s one of the schools I’ve been talking to a lot,” Neubert said. “That’s why I went out there; kind of a showcase for them. Gustavus, Northwestern, Jamestown, St. Mary’s as well. I’ve taken a handful of visits and will take more throughout the fall. Flying out to Cedarville University in Ohio in early November as well – that’s another one.”
