Recruiting Report: Brady Van Holland (2018)
Brady Van Holland is a 6-foot-3 guard from Harrisburg that can stroke it and has found new ways to get to space to put points on the board.
“I got a lot smarter and I gained a ton of confidence in my shooting over the course of the summer,” Brady said.
Brady played with BBA Force which is a team that upped it’s schedule significantly this year and won nearly half of their 30 games. The competition was big but Brady also enjoyed his teammates.
“I will take away the new friends and people that I met over the summer. And I will remember my last summer playing AAU ball for BBA.
Brady can score on the wing but he wants to become better on the attack as well.
“This fall I am hoping to get a ton of shots up and I want to improve my ball handling,” Brady said.
The 17u AAU level also showed Van Holland that there is another level of competition that he ready to play against going forward.
“It challenged me to get stronger and faster to be able to compete with the type of players I was going against,” Van Holland said. “I’ve learned that it is tough and it’s going to keep getting tougher.
“I’ve also learned how to compete at a much higher level which I can take to my high school season.”
Four schools have talked to Van Holland about playing at the next level so far.
“I have talked to Dakota State, Mount Marty, Briar Cliff and Morningside College,” Brady said.
A year ago Harrisburg was one of the hottest teams at the end of the season which pushed their record to 13-15 (after a rough start) and they got a taste of state. Now Van Holland wants to take the next step.
“We should be in contention for a state title in my mind,” Van Holland feels. “We have all the pieces to do it. It’s just a matter of putting them all together and making everything work.”
