Prospect Watch: Mason Larson (2018)
Mason Larson has finished his year with the Dakota Schoolers and is now focused on his senior year at Langford Area.
Last year Larson scored 18 points a game and led his team to the Class B State Tournament with a 23-3 record. Mason then played his second season up on the Dakota Schoolers 17u team helping them to a 26-10 record.
Larson’s teams from December to the end of July? 46-13. Not bad at all. And along the way his understanding of the game has improved.
“I grew more physical and honestly just became a smarter basketball player,” Larson said about his time with the Schoolers 17u team this spring/summer. “I played different positions and improved my basketball IQ. I will always remember the fun weekends with all my friends and the coaches I had.”
Larson has also learned that he wants to be a more versatile threat.
“I want to continue to improve my skills and ability to be a threat at all times while on the floor,”’ Larson said. “My goal is to grow and to work hard on my game and make myself into an all-around better player.”
When you play basketball at the 17u level against teams in the SPTS there are no days off.
“(The competition) made me play at a high level every single game. Everyone is good and you have to play your best game in and game out.”
In addition to his senior year Larson is thinking about college.
“I do plan on playing basketball and there are a few schools that I have in mind but I think I have it narrowed down,” Larson said.
