Prospect Spotlight: Logan Peters (2019)
Logan Peters was a key role player last season for a South Hamilton team that made the 2A State Tourney, and this season he could rocket into a starring role.
A 6-foot-3 guard with great length and a nice feel for the game, we recently caught up with Peters, who defined his skill-set and what exactly it he tries to do each time he takes the court.
“I think right now my biggest asset is probably my defense, I’m really long and I can get steals pretty easily. And I like to play defense, and that’s what my coach likes me to do,” said Peters.
“On offense, I’m a slasher, I like to get to the hoop a lot. And I love my jump-shot right now.”
Last season, as a sophomore with the Hawks, Peters averaged 5.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
“My role was to get a lot of rebounds and I was more of a defensive stopper,” he said. “Having a guy like Marco Balderas (Iowa’s 48th-ranked 2018) on our team gives us a lot of options to score on the court.”
This spring and summer, while playing with All Iowa Attack 16U Black, Peeters says he learned that he can be a versatile offensive threat.
“My role on that team was to be more of a scorer, and I’ve really realized this summer that I can score the ball in a lot of different ways. And my coach with Attack helped me with that a lot,” said Peters.
“I’ve been working a lot on getting to the hoop and finishing with different hands. And then ball-handling, I‘m going to have to do a lot more of that with Collin (Hill) gone.”
As far as his recruitment, Peters, a rising-junior, still has plenty of time for that to materialize.
“None of that year,” he said. “But I’m hoping that starts to happen in this next high school season.”
