Prospect Spotlight: Kelvin Dean (2019)
Kelvin Dean is headed into his junior season at Chipley.
The 6’0″, 175-pounder was the sixth man for the Tigers this past season. Dean came up big in a starting role in the Class 1A-District 3 district title game with 24 points. Chipley made it to the region final before losing West Gadsden.
Dean says he spent all summer aiming to add explosiveness to his game and get better every day.
He started playing basketball at age 6 at the YMCA. Dean pointed to his strengths as being a floor general and his defensive game.
No offers have come yet for Dean, but he is drawing plenty of interest on the football field. An athlete for Chipley football, the 2019 prospect holds an offer from FAU and took an unofficial visit to FSU in April.
Look for Dean to benefit greatly from a full time starting role on the basketball team this year. He is a very sound player and as he said, increasing his explosiveness will do wonders for his game.
