Prospect Spotlight: Connor Izatt (2019)
As he heads back to Clearfield for his third season of varsity ball, 6-foot-1 guard Connor Izatt could be due for a breakout winter.
He spent his summer honing his skills with one of the state’s best grassroots squads, A-Train Magic, and saw his skill-set improve considerably because of it.
“Last year as a sophomore, I played well but we had a good group of seniors there that played pretty well. I’ve been playing with this year’s group of seniors since I was a freshman, so I think we’ll be able to really well and improve from last year,” said Izatt.
He reflected on his spring and summer with A-Train, which included trips to Reno, and Las Vegas.
“This summer I’ve been excelling at shooting and passing, and I think I’ve grown as a really good interior passer,” said Izatt.
“We played well, as a team we still need to grow a little bit more to get to the next level. I think we’re going to try and get into the adidas Gauntlet next year, so hopefully that works out.”
Izatt mentioned what it was he specifically worked to improve this spring and summer .
“I think that I’m more of a point guard, I see the floor pretty well,” he said. “I’ve been working on getting the ball up the floor to my teammates and taking fewer dribbles, and I think that will take my game to the next level.”
Now, with his junior season on the horizon, Izatt is eager to display his improved game, and with that, he hopes some recruitment might come his way.
“I’m on some recruiting sites and I have a video up, so hopefully this next coming season I’ll see that start up a little bit more,” said Izatt.
