Pierce Kiesler is a 6’7 forward from St. Xavier High School in Louisville, KY. Last season Kiesler helped lead the Tigers to a 19-12 overall record, falling just short of a 26th District championship in a 63-67 loss in an overtime to Louisville Male.
Kiesler averaged 16.6 points and and 6 rebounds per game on the year, shooting right at 50% from the field. “As a team, I would say we got better throughout the season, which is always a goal. Individually, I made the All-7th region team,” said Pierce, in reviewing his junior campaign.
Kiesler is a player who can battle in the post, as well as step outside and stretch the floor a bit. He shot right at 33% from 3-point range-on over 100 attempts last season.
He spent this summer playing AAU with Twenty Two Vision and Pocket City out of Evansville, IN. “High School summer ball also went well, for myself and it really helped out our team with chemistry.” Kiesler put a focus during the off-season on improving his ball-handling and being able to step out and play the wing a bit more.
Getting it done on the court and in the classroom, Kiesler’s favorite subject is Math and in looking for a college program, he says he’d like to find a school with a good education. And for basketball? “I’m looking for a program I know I will play in and will help to develop me as a player.”
Currently holding no offers, Kiesler does have interest from Air Force, Elon, Morehead State, Wheeling Jesuit, and Ohio Dominican.
As for his senior season at St. Xavier, Pierce hopes to average a double-double and make the Kentucky All-Start team. “My expectations for next season is that we should definitely have a winning season and should be a top team in our region.”
