Prep Hoops Oklahoma 16U All-Grassroots Teams
The Prep Hoops Oklahoma staff spent the spring and summer scouting Oklahoma teams around the country. Get a look at the 16U age group of teams from Oklahoma with the All-Grassroots Teams!
First Team
Micah Thomas 2019 Oklahoma Run PWP Point Guard
Thomas was outstanding at the Point Guard spot for Oklahoma Run PWP. He ran the team like a well-oiled machine limiting turnover and maximizing offense. Thomas can do many things that include score at all three levels, shows great court vision and is a pesky defender. After this summer the stock of Thomas is going through the roof!
Drew Tennial 2019 Team Griffin Wing
Tennial was a big stock riser in the month of July with Team Griffin on the Nike 16U Circuit. The biggest thing Tennial did over the summer showed his aggressiveness attacking the basket with ease. When given the opportunity to handle the basketball, Tennial can be a very dynamic Guard that thrives at scoring the rim. He does a good job of getting going at the rim and then extends out with his jumper. The length of Tennial on the Wing also makes him a factor defensively.
Bryce Thompson 2020 Oklahoma Run PWP Wing
Thompson is a young 2020 Wing playing up that just dominated this spring and summer with Oklahoma Run PWP. From the outside, Thompson is a sniper. As the season went along Thompson seemed just to continue to get better. He earned a spot on the 16U All-Grassroots Oklahoma team with his impressive, consistent scoring outburst on the Under Armour Circuit.
Shemar Smith 2019 Oklahoma Power Forward
Smith is a rising standout in the 2019 Oklahoma Class. Oklahoma Power did a great job of putting Smith in great situations for him to grow and succeed as a player. Smith is without a doubt a top ten player in the 2019 Oklahoma Class. He proved that time and time again with great play on both ends. From impressive slams to exciting blocks on the defensive end. The mid-range game of Smith also grew leaps and bounds with him even knocking down three-pointers from the outside by the end of the summer. Smith looks like he is getting ready to explode over the next two years.
Kalib Boone 2019 Oklahoma Run PWP Post
Boone was a monster all summer for Oklahoma Run PWP in the paint. He played well on both ends of the floor bringing his hard hat. At 6’8 Boone is a long, lanky Forward with tons of upside. The shot blocking skills of Boone make him a force defensively. The biggest area of growth for Boone this summer was on the offensive end. He learned how to finish better around the basket and grow his mid-range game as well.
Second Team
Kobe Burgess 2019 Team Griffin Point Guard
Burgess had an up and down summer with Team Griffin. The up times featured quite the player on both ends of the floor. The motor of Burgess is non-stop on the floor, which nowadays seems to be a rarity. Burgess scores the ball well by getting to the rim with his quickness. Defense is where Burgess stands out with his tenacity notching a couple of steals in nearly every game we watched him play over the spring and summer. He has a bright future.
Andrew Crow 2019 Tulsa Hawks Point Guard
Crow was huge as the leader of the Tulsa Hawks at the Point Guard spot. He was great as a facilitator with the rock in his hands. The change of pace Crow plays with makes him tough to defend not to mention his high basketball IQ. It seems Crow is always making the right plays with the basketball. The high level of play from Crow through the spring and summer lands him as a Prep Hoops Oklahoma 16U All-Grassroots selection.
Kellen Hines 2019 Oklahoma Power Guard
Hines proved once again his worth on the Adidas Circuit. After taking a year off of the Adidas Circuit last year, Hines rejoined the circuit with the Oklahoma Power. Hines has an excellent mid-range pull up game with a nasty crossover. The scoring ability of Hines is what separates him from other players. The offensive game of Hines pushed him to a second team Oklahoma 16U All-Grassroots selection.
Seth Hurd 2019 Oklahoma Run PWP Forward
Hurd was huge for Oklahoma Run PWP at the Forward spot. He rebounded the ball very well from the four spot. The presence inside of Hurd was felt each game with his improved toughness and aggressiveness. When Hurd got the ball in scoring opportunities he scored the ball well. The improvements in Hurd’s game were tremendous against the national talent he saw on the Under Armour Circuit.
Jacob Germany 2019 Team Griffin Post
Germany is a player who burst onto the scene this year with Team Griffin. The 6’10 size and frame of Germany have colleges watching him very closely to see how he develops over the next couple of years. On the national Nike Circuit Germany learned how to bang inside and what it takes to be elite. He thrived with dunks and getting easy finishes around the hoop.
Third Team
Tre Waggnor 2019 Oklahoma Wolfpack Point Guard
This summer Waggnor was a rising 2019 that made the most of his spring and summer with the Oklahoma Wolfpack. He shoots the ball very well from three-point range with a quick release. Waggnor improved as a passer as the season continued. He has a chance to turn into a very coveted Divsoin II prospect with the growth in his game this year.
Garrett Rouse 2019 Oklahoma Impact Guard
Rouse is a very stout Guard with Oklahoma Impact. He is strong with the ball, which allows him to be super efficient at scoring the ball by getting to the rim. Rouse also excels at shooting the rock from distance. When his offensive game was on there was not too many defenders that could slow him down. Rouse is a player Division II programs are starting to keep close tabs on in the Oklahoma 2019 Class.
Tyler Mason 2019 Tulsa Hawks Forward
Mason is a stretch Four for the Tulsa Hawks that really used this summer to make his name known around Oklahoma. He will be one of the top Division II stretch four recruits in the state of Oklahoma in the 2019 Class. The improvement in Mason’s game this summer was very evident. Mason became a better shooter from mid and three-point range, a passer with the ball in the paint and learned to use his feet better on defense. Mason has some upside at the Forward spot in the 2019 Class.
Josh Major 2019 Team Unity Forward
Major was a versatile Forward for Team Unity this summer providing them significant minutes in the paint. He was extremely active for Team Unity bringing his hard hat each game out. The motor of Major will take him a long way in basketball. The improvements in Major’s athleticism, toughness and aggressiveness have him rising in the 2019 Oklahoma Class.
Mark Berry 2019 BTR Forward
Berry was Mr. Consisent for BTR giving them significant minutes each time he was out on the floor through the grassroots season. He is a long 6’5 Forward with some upside to his game. At the Forward spot, Berry has some bounce, athleticism and a little swagger to make his game flourish. The small college interest will swirl around Berry over the next year. He was a perfect fit with BTR this summer.
