Predicting the DMV’s Top Rebounders (Part 1)
In anticipation of the upcoming high school season, we will be taking a closer look at various teams and players throughout the DC Metro Area. In this edition we highlight five bigs who could find themselves among the top rebounders in the area this season.
EMMANUEL AGHAYERE | SOUTH LAKES ’18
Emmanuel Aghayere was a double double machine for Head Coach Andrew Duggan at South Lakes last season, and we expect no different from the bruising big man. Expect the rising senior, who is a flat out workhorse on the boards, to put up monster numbers in his final high school campaign.
QUENTIN MILLORA-BROWN | SOUTH COUNTY ’18
We’ve touched on the type of impact Quentin Millora-Brown will have at South County this season, and we can’t reiterate how big of an impact he could make in his first year of 6A public school ball. The 6’9 big man, who is considered one of the most dominant post defenders locally, will immediately fortify the heart of Head Coach Mike Robinson’s defense and provide elite level rim protection.
HUNTER DICKINSON | DEMATHA ’20
We saw Hunter Dickinson go for 20 and 20 in a summer league game, and it may or may not be a sign of what’s to come this season. What we do know is that whenever the 7-footer is on the floor, you must put a body on him at all times or he will make you pay on the boards. The goal for Dickinson should be to average at least 10 rebounds per game this season.
JERMAINE HARRIS | ROCK CREEK ’18
6’10 power forward Jermaine Harris is a flat out monster in the paint, and should find himself among the area’s leading rebounders this season. The rising senior, who was named first team all met as a junior, is a strong candidate to repeat, and a possible preseason player of the year candidate.
ZACH PFAFFENBERGER | EPISCOPAL ’18
Zach Pfaffenberger could be a walking double double in his final high school campaign. The 6’8 rising senior, who is coming off an excellent summer on the grassroots circuit, has held his own against high level competition. Pfaffenberger is a hard worker with solid box out fundamentals, and isn’t afraid to put his body on the line for a loose ball.
