Powerhouse Hoops Facility
The biggest addition to the basketball community in the state of Arizona in 2018 won’t score a single point, ever. That is because it will be a new building, Powerhouse Hoops’ new facility, dubbed “PHHacility”.
Features
Featuring three full size courts, locker rooms, a weight room, film room, and even a player lounge, PHHacility will be fully equipped. This stands to give Powerhouse players a place where they can go, not only to work on their games, but to hang out with other players as well. The in-house trainers and strength coaches, should make it a one stop shop for the development of current and former players.
Benefits
This is a step in the direction of improving the in-state options that elite players have to choose from when it comes to the AAU season. The level of talent in the state continues to rise and produce national phenoms like recent Duke commit Marvin Bagley III (Originally from Tempe). The state of Arizona will be looked at more now than ever before. It is important to the basketball community that these kids aren’t forced to leave the state in order to receive the level of development and exposure that their game warrants.
Powerhouse Hoops Statement
When asked for comment, Powerhouse Hoops’ Jeff Becker, Program Director, and John Ortega, Facility/ Recruiting Director offered the following: “This PHHacility is significant on a lot of different levels. It is going to change the game in Arizona on many levels. We envision the facility to be a true home of basketball at every level from youth, developmental, all the way to the high school elite.
For our current AAU teams and players, it is important because it allows us to avoid conflicts. We will now have a structured calendar for not only practices, but open runs and our academy training as well. As an academy based program, we believe in fundamental as well as advanced skills training. As it is tough to find gym time for both, the PHHacility will now allow for that. It will also help with our former players now playing in college and hopefully professionally. They will be provided with a summertime home to come and continue their development both on the court and in the weight room with a little exclusivity.
Finally, I think it is big for our coaches, as this is their classroom. This is where they teach. We want them to have the best PHHacility possible for that. The added coaches lounge and offices will allow our coaches to continue to develop as a staff, while the theater will allow our coaches to teach using game and practice film.”
Location
The new PHHacility will be located at 48th street and Broadway. This will be centrally located to most areas in the Valley.
