Moore County Tournament Final Recap
Spartans 2020 Forward Demarcus McLaurin: This youngster has a chance to be special without a doubt, he has all the tools to be a very good wing player. He already has the height at 6’4, although he’s young he has a frame that’s pretty muscular and he will only add more as he continues to get older and more developed. He can score the ball in multiple ways and even though he’s not in the greatest shape at this point, he still pushes himself to give it everything he has on every possession. In the game I watched him play, his team only had 5 players but he played the entire game and finished with 42 Points in a very close loss. Only time will tell how good he will be but I left the gym very impressed with what his potential is and he is name that you should remember.
Mars Elite 2019 Guard Josh Sturdivant: One of the best on the ball defenders throughout the day, he brings a scrappiness to him and does a good job of moving his feet and not playing defense with his hands. In multiple games that they played, he took on the job of defending the opposition’s best scorer and forced them into difficult and low percentage shots.
NLCA 2019 Forward Latrell Jones: Jones is built like a football player but has a skillset that clearly shows that he belongs on the floor. He can play inside by using his frame but where he really shines is in situations where he can stretch the floor. He can knock down the deep ball but also has the ability to put it on the floor and knock down the midrange shot or finish with the floater.
Mars Elite/Forest Hills 2018 Guard Jhalil McLaughlin: One of the top players in the building without a doubt, he has the nice blend of skills, strength, speed and confidence. He does a good job of keeping the ball secure and avoiding turnovers by not trying to do too much, he has all the tools to play at the next level and be effective.
