MD/DC Summer Stock Boosters: 2020 Frontcourt
Maryland and DC were well represented on the grassroots circuit this summer. As the season winds down and many players return from AAU back to their high school squads, we’ll be taking a look back at some of the players who have raised their stock the most since last high school season. Below, we take a look at five front court players in the 2020 class who’ve been performing well and are set to break out.
WOODY NEWTON | MCKINLEY TECH
Woody Newton got off to a great start this spring with 16U Team Thrill, and closed it out in style at Future All American Camp. The versatile 6’8 forward plays with a relentless motor, and has demonstrated the ability to create space off the dribble and consistently knock down shots from the perimeter. Newton, who has a Kansas State offer, has a chance to be one of the best prospects in his class nationally.
JUSTIN LEWIS | POLY
With a wing span that extends over seven feet, Justin Lewis is one of the more unique prospects in the state. At 6’7, the rising sophomore is comfortable with the ball in his hands, and is very good off the bounce. Lewis dominated the competition at Future All American Camp, and should see his recruitment continue to blossom.
TERRANCE WILLIAMS | GONZAGA
Terrance Williams was one of the most important players for 16U Team Takeover this summer. It appears that the 6’7 forward is prepared to follow up his productive freshman season with a potentially dominant sophomore campaign.
TEGRA IZAY | ARCHBISHOP CARROLL
Tegra Izay, who was voted MVP for 15U Team Durant at Southern Jam Fest, has a very high ceiling. The 6’10 center is very disruptive as a rim protector, and exhibits a very high motor. Izay has a chance to develop into a very forceful paint presence he continues to grow into his body.
MYLES STUTE | GONZAGA
Myles Stute, a standout for 15U Team Takeover, has helped himself quite a bit this summer. The 6’6 forward, who does a bit of everything well, has demonstrated the ability to consistently knock down shots from the perimeter. The rising sophomore, who already holds offers from Penn, GW, and UMass, is a high level athlete and a big time prospect.
