Intro: Jayden Johnson (2020)
Class of 2020 Jayden Johnson is a 6’4” small forward from Batavia who impressed us with his play in July. He is a thick bodied wing, but it is mostly baby fat that he should be able to lean out in time. Crafty ball handler that finishes well around the rim. Plus shooter with an excellent shot from deep. One to watch moving forward and impressed us with his high basketball IQ and feel for the game. How did it go last year as a freshman for Batavia?
“It went real well. I every game I got to compete and play for my spot. You never know some guy could come off the bench and take my spot if I’m not working hard. Playing defense and every day working practice.”
He spoke about what he brings to a team.
“I think I am a great teammate. I keep a high energy on the floor. I keep my teammates getting shots up by moving the ball.”
Johnson played with Fundamental U 15 this spring and summer on the circuit.
“I think I played real well. I am working well getting to the basket and trying to make plays.”
He is looking forward to next year with Batavia as they showed flashes of their potential in June.
“It went real well. Everybody on the floor can shoot it. We are solid.”
Eastern Illinois, Stanford, Holy Cross, Yale, William & Mary, Wofford, Iona, Illinois State, and New Hampshire have put some very preliminary interest out for this 2020 prospect.
