Intro: Jack McDonald (2019)
Class of 2019 point guard Jack McDonald can flat out run the show! This Geneva point guard is a crafty lead guard that gets others involved with great court vision. Makes crisp and sound decisions with the basketball. As a scorer his strength allows him to finish inside and mixes in a three on occasion. Impressive July for this 2019 playing up on the 17U level for Mercury Elite. He spoke about his summer.
“It is going really well. I really love playing for Coach Thomas. We have a really good group of guys with Ben Wolf and Ethan Schuemer. It is fun playing with them.”
What does he see his role being on the team?
“Being the facilitator. I will knock down shots when I need too, but just doing whatever we have to do to get the win.”
Playing up an age level is going to help him long term.
“It is a lot tougher. I think it is going to pay off next high school and next AAU seasons. I think in the long run it will really help because everyone at the 17U level is solid.”
McDonald broke down Geneva’s huge season last year.
“It went really well. We started 26-0. I thought I played really well. I went into it not knowing really what to expect, but I think I did awesome. I set the assist record for Geneva in my first year of varsity. Just to help our team win games was awesome.”
When his game is rolling what does he do best?
“I think I can pass it really well. I can shoot it and get to the hoop. I am a little undersized, but I don’t let that stop me.”
This is a prospect we will be tracking closely to see how he develops because he has a special tool with his passing.
