GulfCoastBball Camp: Scouting Reports pt. 1
Moses Ngodock 6’7 F Northshore 2019
This was the second straight weekend I got to check Ngodock out, and he looked equally as impressive as he was at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo last weekend. He continues to show that he is a dominant dunker, but also showed his ability to put the ball on the floor a bit, and an ability to strok the ball from the outside. Mid major coaches across the country need to keep an eye out for Ngodock.
Frank Robinson 6’6 F Ellender 2019
Robinson is another big prospect for the 2019 class. He plays with a high motor, and is able to rebound the ball at a high level. He also showed a much improved ability to shoot the ball outside the paint, but he still has a ways to go in order to consistently knockdown jumpers from 15 feet and out.
Rodney Munson 6’1 G Bonnabel 2019
Munson was one of a trio of Bonnabel players that really impressed this weekend. Munson has shown a much better ball handling ability from last season, and can routinely beat guys off the dribble and finish around size. He has certainly grown since the end of last season, and now looks the part of a combo guard that can play the 1 or the 2.
Jahein Spencer 6’4 G Madison Prep 2019
This was my first time checking Jahein out, and I came away mighty impressed. He is able to use his body and size to a huge advantage when getting to the goal, and can finish through contact at a high level. The Madison Prep transfer is going to be immediately eligible this year, and is going to be able to contribute from the minute he steps on the court.
Kobe Julien 6’5 F Madison Prep 2018
One of the other coaches said something to me about Julien, and it really hit home. “Know what I like about watching Kobe play? Every Time you see him, he will show you something new.” And that is certainly true. Kobe has as diverse a game as anyone in the state, but one this is true. You are going to see something you’ve never seen him do.
Jordan Wright 6’5 G Dunham 2019
Every time I see Wright, he looks like he has gotten in better and better shape, and his athleticism certainly shows it. He is able to get up and dunk with ease, so if you aren’t careful in transition, you are going to wind up on the wrong end of a poster. The hours and hours that he spends in the gym working on his craft are evident, and he has as high a basketball IQ as you can ask for.
MVP Jalen Cook 5’10 G Walker 2020
Cook had as loud and effective a performance as he could have possibly had. He was able to get to the rim time and time again, and showed an array of finishing moves once he got into the paint. He certainly had the play of the day, with a between the legs, step back jumper that he hit over Jordan Wright that set the whole gym off. Jalen Cook has top 25 player in the nation potential, and it is only a matter of time before coaches and other media outlets pick up on it.
