Gaithersburg Trojans Team Overview: College Prospects
Gaithersburg HS Trojans. Gaithersburg, MD. 314 South Frederick Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD. 20877
Gaithersburg Head Coach: Jeff Holda.
Coach Holda enters his 3rd season with the Gaithersburg Trojans & he is one of the youngest & brightest Coaches in Montgomery County. The Trojans posted records of 21-3, 17-6 & 18-7 thru 2015/16. However last season Gaitherburg slipped to 7-15 after being hit hard by transfers to private schools. This is not an uncommon scenario in Montgomery County since many private schools some of which have have national recognition attract many of the highly regarded public schools players. Unfortunately, the transfer bug has become an epidemic in high schools & colleges nationwide. However, Montgomery County Coaches realize this is part of the high school basketball scene & culture. Another obstacle for coaches is that many middle school players whom would feed into a school such as Gaithersburg are snatched up by the private sector & never play for a Montgomery County public high school. Even with these obstacles, Montgomery County basketball fields many excellent college prospects & teams. We believe Gaithersburg will be on of those teams.
Coming into the 2017/18 season Coach Holda says,” I think we will be much improved over last year & can compete in the Montgomery County 4A West & make a run in the Regional Playoffs. We are going to surprise some teams, but MOCO 4A will be very competitive.
