Francisco: Summer Stock Raisers (2019)
Summer Stock Raisers (2019)
MVP
Jaden Shackelford (Hesperia, CA/ Oak Hills)
2019, CG, 6-foot-3, 170 pounds
Joel’s Take: Shackelford, at 6-foot-3ish, is evolving into one of the best guards in Southern California, regardless of class. For a rising junior his offensive game is tight. He can drain deep 3s and gets separation from the defenders with his jab step. Clever playmaker who is equally adept at scoring and facilitating. Is getting recruited by Oregon State, Long Beach State, San Francisco, Pepperdine, Cal State Fullerton, and Montana.
The Next Tier
Julian Rishwain (Sherman Oaks, CA/ Notre Dame)
2019, SG, 6-foot-5, 175 pounds
Joel’s Take: Rishwain has grown significantly this summer both in terms of skill and confidence. The wiry wing-type plays with great intensity and fearless aggression while attacking the basket. He can score from all three levels and as he gets stronger, his stock will continue to rise. San Francisco and Hawaii have offered while Boise State is recruiting his as well.
Cade Potter (Orange, CA/ Orange Lutheran)
2019, PF, 6-foot-7, 200 pounds
Joel’s Take: Potter has taken his game to another level this summer. The stretch 4-man has always possessed a smooth shooting touch out to the stripe, but in recent months he has put on some good weight and as a result has shown improvement in the areas of rebounding and finishing through contact. In this day age where shooting is held at such a high premium, Potter should continue to garner more college interest as his junior campaign evolves.
Jordan Hilstock (Vista, CA/ Vista)
2019, SG, 6-foot-3, 180 pounds
Joel’s Take: When scouts talk about Hilstock, one of the first descriptions that come immediately to mind is “defense.” He slides his feet well and has active hands, but it’s his mindset that separates him from his peers. Offensively, his jump shot has become more consistent out to 20-feet and his ability to get the basket off the dribble has improved as well.
Rejean “Boogie” Ellis (San Diego, CA/ Mission Bay)
2019, CG, 6-foot-1, 160 pounds
Joel’s Take: San Diego State, San Diego, UC Irvine, Cal State Fullerton, and Eastern Washington have all thrown their hat into arguably the best point guard prospect in the San Diego area. “Boogie” is know for his scoring prowess and overall athletic package. However, he is now changing speeds better, finding teammates off of dribble penetration, and has gotten significantly stronger since the spring.
