Same Face, New Place (Part 5)
In anticipation of the upcoming high school season, we will be taking a closer look at various teams and players throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia. In this edition we’ll be covering transfers, and the type of impact we believe each player could make with their new team.
AYAN TEEL | BISHOP O’CONNELL ’19
After a solid sophomore campaign at Riverdale Baptist, Ayan Teel will join Bishop O’Connell, and will add instant offense, playmaking ability, quickness, and solid defense to a very good back court. The rising junior will benefit from competing alongside of the elite point guards in the area, Xavier Johnson, on a daily basis.
KOBE TIGNEY | VIRGINIA ACADEMY ’18
6’3 lefty Kobe Tigney, who is coming off a fantastic summer on the grassroots circuit with New World Virginia, will join Head Coach Chris Rhone at VA Academy this year. Expect the silky smooth wing, who is one of the very best available players in the area at his position, to be a focal point of the Patriots offensive attack.
EARL TIMBERLAKE | DEMATHA ’20
We’ve seen Earl Timberlake excel for DeMatha during summer league, where he played all over the floor including at the point. The 6’5 rising sophomore, who boasts considerable length, is a versatile defender who is developing into one of the most formidable all around prospects in the local 2020 class.
DEE TULL | ST. MARY’S RYKEN ’18
Dee Tull won a lot of games during his junior year at King’s Christian Academy, and will return to St. Mary’s Ryken where he will join AAU Head Coach Walter Booth. The reliable playmaker, who provides solid defense and leadership, will be expected to play a vital role on both ends of the court.
CHRISTIAN TURNER | FLINT HILL ’19
One of the hardest working players in the area, Christian Turner is a nice prospect in the 2019 class. The 6’5 wing, who had some nice moments this summer with DC Blue Devils, will bring energy and rebounding to an improving Flint Hill team.
