CP3 Rising Stars Camp Recap: Team Hornets Part.2
Forward/Center Caleb Atewe: Still learning the game, is raw offensively but plays with a nice amount of energy and effort. Does a good job of rebounding the ball and once he gets his footwork together he could end up being a nice big man prospect. Seems to be a very coachable young man and a good teammate, although he didn’t get a lot of touches, he kept working very hard.
Guard Caden Davis: Has a gift for scoring the ball and has some flair to his game, he knocked down the trey ball at a decent percentage. He’s constantly on the attack, making defenders work hard to keep him in front of them, natural scorer. One play that really stands out to me was when he went hard baseline, gave his man a shot hesitation and then a quick spin move, all in one motion and finished with ease.
Forward Devon Savage: At 6’5 with energy he stood out in the camp setting as he was constantly active, came up with a nice amount of put back shots and brought the energy on the defensive end of the floor. Is a versatile player that showed he could defend bigs as well as wings?
Guard Rone Smith: One of the best rebounding guards at the event, he has what we call a ‘‘nose’’ for the ball. Whenever there is a play to be made he’s usually coming up with a rebound, especially on the offensive end of the floor. Does a very good job of finding a body to box out when the shot goes up, nice IQ.
Forward Brian Thomas: A silky smooth guard with a nice handle that sent one player to the floor with one of the top moves at camp. Brian ran at his defender at a decent speed and performed a smooth but quick in and out move that sent the defender to the floor as he went up and finished with a finger roll. Also has a very impressive midrange game.
