Class of 2019 Shooting Guards/Wings
Here is look at the state’s top shooting guards and wings in the Class of 2019:
Isiaih Mosley 6’5″ Rock Bridge: The talented wing has catapulted his way to the top of the class after a big summer with MoKan Elite. His perimeter skills have continued to blossom over the years as he has become a knock-down 3-point shooter with several layers to his game. His size, athleticism and overall skill set have been attracted to several Division I schools who are now on the case.
Marcedus Leech 6’5″ Poplar Bluff: One of the most talented guards in the class on the national level, Leech sat out much of the summer’s activity to regain full health. He is a multi-dimensional offensive player with handles, athleticism and the ability to score from all three levels. He already holds offers from several high level Division I schools.
Jamonta Black 6’3″ Rock Bridge: A very smooth shooting guard who enjoyed a very productive summer with the Gateway Basketball Club. He has good size and the ability to score at all three levels. He also worked hard to become a more aggressive rebounder and defender.
Amauri Pesek-Hickson 6’2″ Chaminade: A physical wing player who comes to Chaminade from Omaha, NE, Hickson is a strong athlete who can really attack the rim and finish, but he also can pull up and hit a muscular mid-range jumper. His skill set is good and he has excellent bounce.
Broc Smith 6’3″ Republic: A talented wing player who was the leader of a very good Springfield Hawks team during the summer. He is an excellent 3-point shooter, but he also excels in all facets of the game. He is a very good passer who gets his teammates involved, a solid defender and a capable ball handler with a high basketball IQ.
E.J. Bellinger 6’4″ Fort Zumwalt South: A prototype shooting guard with the size, athletic ability and a real scorer’s mentality. He’s capable of running off 10-12 points in a row when he’s going strong. He shoots a nice jumper off the catch and he also is dangerous in the transition game.
Ben Cooper 6’1″ Helias: A talented shooting guard who moves over to Helias after playing at Rock Bridge for two seasons. He is an excellent 3-point shooter who can also handle and pass the ball. His presence will lift Helias into a prime contender’s role in Class 4 for the upcoming season.
Jeramy Shaw 6’4″ Valley Park: An explosive wing player who has the ability to play all three perimeter positions. He plays a lot of point guard for his high school team, but he also excels on the wing, where he can slash to the basket and get out on the break and get buckets in transition.
Atavian Butler 6’2″ McCluer North: One of the most explosive guards in the class, Butler is a slashing performer who attacks the rim and finishes with great authority. He loves to dunk the ball. He is also one of the top rebounding guards in the state. He does a nice job of getting out of his area to grab boards.
Ray Adams 6’3″ Webster Groves: A sweet-shooting wing player who can never be left open at any time. There were stretches where he would make four or five 3-pointers in succession before the defense figured out what was going on. His quick release makes him more difficult to defend beyond the arc.
