Class of 2018 Shooting Guards/Wings
Here is a look at some of the Class of 2018 shooting guards and wings in the state of Missouri.
Torrence Watson 6’5″ Whitfield: The Ohio State commit is ready to close his career in high style after leading Whitfield to the Class 3 state finals and enjoying a big summer with the Ramey-Jets United squad in the Gauntlet. Watson causes all kinds of problems with his size and ability to score at the rim and get himself to the free throw line. His 3-point shooting has also become a strength, which makes him a very tough cover.
Ochai Agbaji 6’4″ Oak Park: A potent offensive player with good size and an abundance of skills with the basketball. He got a chance to lock horns with the best in the country this summer in the Nike EYBL with MoKan Elite. After averaging 20 points as a junior, he is primed for a huge senior year at Oak Park with his ability to score from almost anywhere.
Fred Thatch, Jr. 6’3″ Sikeston: The Saint Louis U. commit is the most physical wing player in the state. He is strong around the basket as a scorer and rebounder. He has continued to develop his perimeter game over the course of his career when he will facilitate the offense with his high school team. He also took on the defensive challenge of guarding some of the nation’s top players during the summer for Brad Beal Elite.
Monty Johal 6’3″ Glendale: A high-octane offensive player who already holds his school’s career scoring record and he still has one season left to play. He has slick handles which enables him to score on a variety of dribble moves in the mid range and from 3-point range. He scores big in a smooth way in that he lets the game come to him.
Mason Taylor 6’4″ Grandview: A shooting guard with ideal size who is coming off an excellent summer with the KC Pacers Blue. He showcased his ability to score at all three levels, including a game in which he made six 3-pointers. He can also get you buckets in the low post against smaller guards.
Saadique Perkins 6’3″ Park Hill South: An athletic guard who is very good when he’s slashing to the basket, where he can score on drives in the half court offense or in the transition game. He is a very good defensive player who is good as shooting in the passing lanes and creating turnovers.
Logan Jenkins 6’4″ Lee’s Summit North: The slender shooting guard can really fill it up from 3-point range. He can shoot it off the catch, coming off screens and will pull up on the break from 25 feet if he has the opportunity. Played with Team Rush during the summer. He’s not afraid to get into traffic and score at the basket as well.
Quinn Nelson 6’3″ Ozark: One of the premier shooters in the state, Nelson has proven to be cash money from beyond the 3-point line. He moves without the ball well and is always ready when the catches the ball to shoot. He can also score with a nice one-dribble move and will also get to the basket.
Tony Burks 6’2″ St. Mary’s: A two-sport athlete who also excels on the football field, Burks is an strong offensive player who is constantly on the attack. He is a strong finisher in transition and he never shies away from the big shot when the game hangs in the balance.
Cameron Williams 6’4″ Hazelwood Central: A high energy wing player with excellent athleticism and a big motor who brings it on both ends of the court. He is a slasher on offense where his size really enables him to get to the rim. He is very good in the transition game in which he starts with a lot of his own defensive exploits.
Justin Mathews-Williams 6’3″ Francis Howell North: A versatile wing player with a strong body and a real scorer’s mentality. He stays in attack mode and he is very good at creating contact and getting buckets through contact. He is also a solid jump shooter who has been averaging 20 points a game at Howell North.
