Arizona 2019 Rankings Update: Stock Risers
The 2019 rankings were last updated prior to the beginning of the 2016-2017 season. After evaluating the season as well as the live period, a number of prospects have improved their stock tremendously and have earned their way onto our stock risers list. Below are the top stock risers from this past season as well as the live period.
Stock Risers
#11 Jalen Graham 6’8 PF Mountain Pointe
Graham participated with a couple of different club teams this past July. However, he demonstrated on the national and local stage that he is an NCAA Division I talent. In fact, while participating at the Prep Hoops Bash in the Desert, he showed an improved skill set. He is one of the most versatile prospects in this class. He brings length and athleticism as well as an ability to attack off of the dribble. Further, his shot has improved.
#13 Shaun Wahlstrom 6’8 PF/C Estrella Foothills
Wahlstrom had a very strong season for Verrado. Further, he continued that strong play as he participated with one of the top 16U club teams in the state, The Classics. While playing with the classics, he also demonstrated that he could be a D1 talent. He is capable of taking opposing players off of the dribble and shooting it from deep. With that said, he has a soft touch around the rim and good footwork. He has a good build to boot. In addition to skills, he is a good leader and does all of the little things that coaches appreciate. My favorite part of his game is that he is not too cool. He works hard, takes pride in himself and teammates, and competes at a high level. All things that everyone is capable of doing, but few actually implement into their games. As Wahlstrom continues to grow in his skills and learns to play more physical on the block, his stock is only going to continue to go up.
#26 Jordan Mains 6’4 SG/SF Pinnacle
Mains athleticism has continued to improve. In fact, he was able to make a mini highlight real with some of the dunks that he had this off-season. Mains, much like his older brother, is a knock down shooter. He can shoot it off of the catch and has improved his ability to shoot it on the move. Further, he is not a ball dominant wing whose value is only in scoring. He moves well without the basketball and keeps the rhythm flowing offensively. Defensively, he does a good job in help side and rebounds well at the 2 and 3 spot.
#33 Jaret Allen 6’4 SF Deer Valley
Allen did not play in July due to an injury. However, throughout the spring, he showed great versatility. Defensively, the Classics used an array of defenses that had him at the focal point. His length and athleticism enable him to play multiple spots in different systems. Offensively, he attacks the rim well and uses that same length and athleticism to create around the rim. He has improved his ability to shoot it from deep and does a good job of playing within the structure of the offense. As his skill set continues to improve, so will his stock. He is a hard worker who brings a lot of uncoachables.
#34 Jalen Williams 5’7 PG Perry
Williams received an offer from Hofstra and had a couple of college coaches call in to express interest in him. He is a consistent shooter off of the move and off of the dribble. Williams also gets into the paint well and makes good reads at the next level. Further, he is tough on the ball defensively and moves his feet well. He pressures the basketball well. Williams participated with the I-10 Celtics and should continue to get more and more exposure as Perry brings back a solid team this season. He looks the part of being one of the top guards in this class.
