Team Preview: PowerHouse Hoops 17U Red
PowerHouse Hoops Red 17U participated in the West Coast Elite Summer Kick-Off this past weekend. They went 2-2 in the tournament with two 20 point wins and 2 close losses. This team has a number of talented prospects who college coaches should be aware of.
PowerHouse Hoops Red 17U will be returning to California this weekend to play in the West Coast Elite Summer Classic.
PowerHouse Hoops Red 17U Roster
Jaden Lee 6’2 PG 2018 Mesquite
Recently joined the team after previously playing with Team Bayless last club season and Team Harden. Lee is as explosive as they come. He has NCAA Division I athleticism and makes a number of highlight plays with his awe striking vertical. Defensively, he is active and gets his hands into the passing lanes which enables him to create turnovers and transition opportunities. He has improved his shooting abilities significantly as well.
Ajang Aguek 6’7 SF/PF 2018 Ironwood
Aguek recently joined PowerHouse Hoops Red after previously playing with Team Harden as well. He has gained a lot of attention as of recent due to his length and activity. This past weekend, he filled up the stat sheet and demonstrated that he can guard an array of positions. Although he did not shoot the basketball as well as he would have liked, he gained many college coaches attention due to his never ending motor and ability to make impact plays.
Miles Lightfoot 6’10 C 2018 Gilbert Christian (Army)
Lightfoot is one of the most improved players in the entire state. Much like Aguek, he fills up the stat sheet and is a walking double-double. In addition to finishing well around the rim and being a ball hawk on the glass, he rotates well in help side and protects the paint at a high level. He seems to have a hand in every play when the opposing team reaches the paint – whether it is a blocked shot or an altered shot. Lightfoot will be a quality prospect for Army.
Aishwar Kumar 5’11 PG 2018 Desert Vista
Kumar impressed me as much as anyone from this team. He has a high basketball IQ and finishes extremely well around the rim. He creates well for himself as well as others. Moreover, he has a good feel for the tempo of the game and where to give guys the basketball to help them be successful. Defensively, he does a good job of keeping has man in front and has quick hands that enable him to get his hands in the passing lanes.
Amarion Cash 6’3 PG 2018 Mountain Pointe
Cash is probably the best on ball defender on this team. He is quick, long, and has good athleticism. In addition to being a stand out on ball defender, he gets to the rim at well. His paint touches usually put his team in a position to be successful. He was one of the most impressive prospects on this roster in California last weekend due to his play making abilities.
Meekness Payne 6’8 PF 2018 Hillcrest
Payne did not participate with the team in California this past weekend. He will help this team greatly as he brings another big body to protect the paint and crash the glass. Payne will be a welcomed presence as he comes back to the team this weekend.
Zach Anderson Zach Anderson 6'3" | SG Desert Mountain | 2023 State AZ 6’6 PF 2018 Hamilton
Anderson fits in perfectly with this teams MO – long players who make hustle plays. Anderson is a versatile prospect who is comfortable on the wing and on the block. He demonstrated a lot of patience this past weekend on his post catches and was able to draw multiple fouls using his body and pump fakes.
Elijah Simmons 6’2 PG 2018 Rancho Solano Prep
Simmons is a quick guard who does a good job of not trying to do too much. He understands his role and takes care of the basketball. Defensively, he fits in well as well due to his quickness and high energy.
Jaylin Fleming 6’3 SG 2018 Arcadia
Fleming simple lives in the paint. He is constantly attacking the rim and getting paint touches. Due to this, he gets numerous shots at the rim every game and gets his fair share of free throw attempts. His physical style of play on the offensive side of the basketball assists this team greatly. When the defense collapses, his teammates tend to be the beneficiaries of easy put backs and drop off passes.
Shane Van Huizen 5’10 PG 2019 Trinity Christian
Van Huizen is playing up with this group and has had some good moments. He is a team first point guard with a solid handle.
