Team Preview: AZ Sting 16U
AZ Sting’s 16U group has some solid prospects who are worth monitoring. DJ Hawkins and Conner Braun have the most upside as far as the next level is concerned. They bring length to the front court on a team that does not possess a lot of size. Hawkins is huge for this team as he is able to guard multiple positions which helps this group when the play lengthier opponents. Braun provides a good post presence offensively and defensively.
Other than Hawkins and Braun, the group features a number of guards. They move the basketball well and do a good job of pressuring the opposing team’s ball handlers. They feed the post well and understand how to get Hawkins and Braun involved. Despite not having a lot of size, this group competes well.

AZ Sting 16U Watch List
Connor Braun
Braun should be poised for a break out season at Valley Christian. The big man has a good feel for the game. He is solid at setting on ball screens and rolling. On the switch, he immediately fights for position on the block and tries to take advantage of the mismatch. He has a strong build which enables him to move bodies on the block and a good touch around the rim.
DJ Hawkins
Hawkins has a lot of college potential. He has length and strength which allows him to play multiple positions successfully on offense and defensive. He is a solid shooter who is capable of putting the basketball on the floor and attacking the rim as well. Compass Prep will be receiving a player with a lot of skill and upside.
Noah Self
Self is a tough on ball defender who uses his speed to create havoc for opposing ball handlers. In help side, he has a good feel for where he should be on the floor. His hustle and effort helps him make up for his teammates mistakes on that side of the floor. Offensively, he is explosive and has a solid handle. He does a good job of getting his teammates involved and creating for others.
