Team Melo 17 & U struggles in Nike Peach jam, but plays hard.
Team Melo entered the Peach Jam with a 9-7 record on the Nike EBYL circuit which included many close & competitive. Five defeats were by 4 points or less & one by 5. In the Peach Jam in Spartanburg, SC Team Melo was competitive in all 5 of their games, but went 0-5. Despite the losses Team Melo gained valuable experience and fought hard against 5 excellent teams.
July 12: L New York Lightning 78 Team Melo 72
Team Melo led at the half, but reliquinshed the lead past the midway point in the 2nd half. Brendan Adams had a huge game hitting 9-11 from the field & back court partner Wynston Tabbs totaled 20 Noah Locke was limited to 7 shots & scored 4 points, with 4 assists & 4 rebounds. LaQuill Hardnett added 9 points & 4 rebounds and PG Tyree Meyers dished out 4 assists. The Lighting had 5 players reach double figures led by New York Lightning improved to 11-6 overall. Junub Chuol led NYL with 16 points on 5-6 FGS & dished out 4 assists,Posh Alexander added 14 points, Joel Menash & 6’6″ 4 star SG Jared Rhoden each scored 12 points & added 8 boards. Fredelin De la Cruz added 9 rebounds for the Lightning.
July 13: L Howard Pulley(MN) 67 Team Melo 60
Once again Team Melo led at halftime, but could not hold it. Noah Locke led Team Melo with 16 points on 6-16 shooting, but it was obvious Howard Pulley was keying on Noah. Anthony Higgs played very well hitting 4-5 from the from the filed & Brendan Adams chipped in with 11 points & 6 boards. Ike Nweke hit all 3 of his shots for 7 points & had 4 boards while LaQuill Harnett had a team high 8 rebounds & 7 points. 6’2″ 2019 5 Star & 312 nationally ranked Tre Jones had a giant game for Howard Pulley scoring 30 points & 6’10” 2019 C & Minnesota commit Daniel Oturu who is ranked #48 in the nation added 16 & 11 rebounds while David Roddy added 13 points. 4 star & 6’8″ Minnesota commit Jarvis Thomas collected 9 rebounds for Pulley4 star 6’4″ SG Gabe Kalscheur was limited to 2 poits & 5 rebounds. Howard Pulley improved to 15-3, but lost their next game to the New York Lightning 79-67.
July 13: L Nike Phamily (CA) 73 Team Melo 67
Perry Hall 6’8″ F Anthony Higgs had a monster game hitting 9-14 FGs & grabbing 10 rebounds. Wynston Tabbs hit for 18 points, but Noah Locke was limited to 8 points. The nations #1 player for 2018, 6’11” Marvin BagleyIII led 4 Nike Phamily players in double figures with 26 points & 15 rebounds. Sierra Canyon teammate Micheal Fienberg scored 13 points & 6 rebounds, EJ Jackson added 16 points & 8 rebounds & Ofure Ujadughele added 11 points on 5-5 FGs. Nike Phamily would lose on July 14 to Howard Pulley 77-63.
July 14: L E1T1 United (FL) 73 Team Melo 72
This game went to OT with Team Melo losing their 4th straight game in the Peach Jam. Noah Locke got back on tracking converting 8-14 FGs for 21 points & grabbing 4 rebounds. Ike Nweke recorded a double double with 10 rebounds & 12 points Brendan Adams added 11 points & 4 rebounds while Anthony Higgs had a double double wit 10 points & 10 rebounds. and Perry Hall Twin Tower teammate LaQuill Hardnett scored 8 and had 6 boards. 6’8″ 5 star PF Emmitt Williams led E1T1 with 20 points & 12 rebounds & 6’0″ PG & stock riser Samir Stewart(PA) tallied 17 points, and 4 star 6’4″ Will Richardson(GA) who is ranked @ #68 in the nation scored 14 points & 6’5″ 3 star F Bryce Workman added 7.
July 14: L Mokan Elite (KS) 63 Team Melo 55
In their final game of the Peach Jam Noah Locke led team Melo with 25 points on 9-20 FGs which included 6-12 from 3, and 5 rebounds. Wynston Tabbs shot just 5-15 for 12 points, but added 5 rebounds & 4 assists. Anthony Higgs had a big game on the glass recording 11 rebounds & 5 points, with Ike Nweke scoring 6 points and collecting 4 rebounds. 6’4″ 3 Star SG Israel Barnes led Mokan Elite with 18 points and 2019 4 star, 6’7″ F Malik Hall scored 15 points & had 8 rebounds 6’10” 5 star F Jontay Porter was limited to 2-10 FGs for 6 points, but had 9 rebounds.
