Summer Slam: 17u Standouts
Sanford Pentagon Summer Slam 17u player standouts from the weekend.
Donald Yackley– White River- Yackley is crafty point guard that has the capabilities of creating for himself when he wants. His handles are excellent and will push the ball opportunistically and can finish through defenders.
Jay-Shawn Milton– Lower Brule- Milton this past weekend was another top hustle player with lots of talent. He was a relentless offensive rebounder at only 6’2” and pushed the ball well up the court looking to score around traffic.
Noah Wuor– Sioux Falls- Wuor is a very long slim 6’7” with lots of potential and upside. He is an athletic 3-4 man that uses his size and speed to get around the defense and finish above or around the rim in a number of ways.
Wyatt Hanson– Stanley- Hanson is a long 6’4” guard that will shoot it from deep or go to the wing to post up, rip hard, and get past his defender. He can finish over smaller defenders or with contact for bigger opponents.
Kaedyn Hanson– Stanley- Hanson is a strong 6’6” post that will finish off dump offs or back to basket moves. He moves well under the basket and will find the open spot on drives for easy passes to him to finish.
Koln Oppold– Sioux Falls- Oppold is a smart guard that has wide skill set that he knows when to use. He can shoot is from three very well or like in the 17u championship game post up smaller guards. He has a nice fade and jumper he takes from inside that floats over the opponent.
AJ Plitzuweit– Vermillion- Plitzuweit is a fast pace point guard with tons of upside. He pushes the ball every time up the floor looking to create for his teammates. In the semi championship game he had 5 three pointers in the second half.
Aaron Fiegen– Madison- Fiegen is a versatile long 3 man at 6’7” that is very athletic. He can hit from deep, but is harder to guard when he drives and finishes above or through the defender. He cuts well and has a high basketball IQ he uses for easy point to get himself on a roll.
Mason Larson– Langford- Larson is an all out hard worker on defense and offense. He impressed me most with his energy from the tip, diving out of bounds and flying to the glass for put backs. He is athletic and has a nice inside skill set he uses along with his length to work for baskets.
Trevor Hanson– Volga- Hanson is a long and strong 6’8” big that has the capabilities to stretch the floor, but also a great post talent and high motor on the boards. He abuses teams that are smaller than him in every aspect and could bang with the best of the bigs in the tournament as well.
